註釋This paper presents a survey that addresses questions about the quality and quantity of research by UK NGOs. In particular, the survey seeks to review the research needs of UK relief and development NGOs, review and discuss their potential and actual research capacity, review and present research being carried out by UK NGOs, either internally or in conjunction with others, and explore the links between different research institutions and UK NGOs. The paper outlines succinctly the link between different types of NGO research, calls attention to the weaknesses of the NGO sector with regard to research, and concludes by suggesting strategies for improving research capacity for the NGO sector as a whole.
