Heavy Metal: A Song of Healing is a story of healing, renewal and forgiveness that takes place in a fictional kingdom recovering from the tyrannical rule of a Dragon. Seventeen poems, with illustrations, tell the story of a brave heroine who imprisons the Dragon and creates a culture of art and literature where none existed before.

Author Jean Cozier is a writer, musician, childhood sexual abuse survivor, and the Founder of The Awakenings Foundation, a private operating foundation whose mission is to make visible the artistic expression of survivors of sexual violence. "Heavy Metal" is her attempt to heal her toxic relationship with her mother, and cope with the demands of caretaking a parent who didn't know how to care for her.

All proceeds benefit Project 42, a digital non-profit dedicated to building awareness about the prevalence of childhood sexual abuse in our culture.
