Never a Dull Moment
註釋The Second World War lasted from 1939 until 1945 and involved the vast majority of the world's nations. It was a global and total war, involving some 100 million people; its scale eroded the distinction between the military and civilian populations and necessitated absolute military, economic, scientific and industrial commitment. Many men left their families to fight for either the Allies or the Axis, leaving behind their families, jobs and homes. This is a personal story of the war written by one of those men: Arthur Bloor.Arthur enlisted in the Royal Artillery and when deployment to Europe eventually came, had responsibility for the delivery of water and rations to the deployed men and guns of his unit. With greater freedom of movement than his peers, Arthur had an amazing insight into the activity of all the sub-units and wrote a series of letters home detailing what he saw; a set of letters than re-emerged some 60 years later. His insights and emphatic notes make his story compelling reading.
