"This is the story of Jack Smith's time in the Royal New Zealand Air Force and covers his training in New Zealand before he headed to Canada for advanced pilot's training which never eventuated. Instead, he spent over four months on a Royal Canadian Air Force Staging Post at Watson Lake in the Yukon, working with a telephone construction and maintenance crew. He travelled across Canada and through the United States before returning to New Zealand to resume his pilot training.
