Natural Killer Cell Receptor Genotype Distribution Among Lebanese Patients with Behcet's Disease
註釋HLA-B51 and HLA-B27*02 are the strongest risk factor associated with the preval ence of Behcet's Disease (BD). The activating natural killer cell Immunoglobulin -like receptor (KIR) 3DL1 binds to the Bw4 motif shared by these BD-associated a lleles, HLA-B51 and HLA-B27*02. Therefore, the genotypic occurrence or absence o f KIR3DL1 might be the missing link between disease pathogenesis and the HLA mol ecules. We studied 43 unrelated Lebanese BD patients, through typing their DNA using Seq uence Specific Primer (SSP) technique for the occurrence of 16 KIR gene and pseu dogene loci. The KIR genotype pofile of the BD patients was compared to the gene ral Lebanese population. In addition to sharing common features with the general population, we observed that the AA genotype was the most frequent and identifi ed five new KIR profiles. Interestingly, KIR3DP1*001/002 was found to be signifi cantly different between the BD patients and the Lebanese population. This is th e first report that describes the KIR genotypic profile in this important clinic al disease.
