This began from the beautiful biography that Ellen wrote in her seventies, a truthful memoir about her married life with her husband Henry Francis Meyer. It depicts the challenges and fears of a woman in the late 1800s facing multiple pregnancies and lonely, scary baby arrivals. Ellen and Henry, frequently resided in unhospitable locations, such as Echunga Goldfields in South Australia.for eight years, Henry kept a diary with intermittent entries of this thoughts and experiences, documenting on hard times.The family finally settled in Ashbourne valley after searching for a suitable place to raise their growing family. Ellen gave birth to 10 children, 9 of whom grew to adulthood and all of the survivors married and had families of their own.
