This collection is of poems written about and in the Old Manor mental hospital, Salisbury Wilts. The hospital was demolished in 2002, nothing now remains of the old prefabricated Nightingale, and the converted railway cottages of Bourne ward have been left to nature in the grounds of the new hospital, a smaller, more permanent institution.
I have been in and out of the Old Manor more times than I care to remember, often for very little reason, and the resulting upheaval (loss of flat, friends, job etc) has created a pattern of ructions in my life that only stopped when I gave up all drugs and alcohol in 2016.
The author, Paul Pegasus (real name Paul Arathoon) won a $10,000 prize and the title 'Internet Poet of 2004 (poetry.com)
