Decomposition of Hot Spring Microbial Mats
註釋Microbial mats that occur in the thermal effluents of hot springs apparently resemble typical microbial mats, in terms of the processes involved in their synthesis and decomposition. Yet the extreme nature of the environments in which they form restricts the organisms inhabiting these mats to a a relatively simple community. Therefore, it should be easier to investigate the interrelationships among the community members. The simplicity of these mats may also be an appealing feature for the investigation of the fate of organic chemical marker compounds in microbial mats. 1st paragraph.
