註釋Martin Townsend (1644-1697), probably the son of Martin Townsend (1596-1675) of Hinton-in-the-Hedges, Northampton, England, immigrated to America and settled at Watertown, Massachusetts. He married Abigail Train, daughter of John and Abigail Dix Train, at Watertown in 1669. They had four children, 1671-1687. He died while on a trip to Berkeley County, South Carolina. His son, Jonathan (1687-1764), and his wife, were the parents of six sons and at least two daughters. The family migrated to Hebron, Connecticut, soon after 1713. He is buried at Andover, Connecticut. Descendants listed lived in Connecuticut, New York, Massachusetts, and elsewhere.
