Small Slovene firms and (strategic) information technology usage
註釋The extent to which information technology (IT) is used strategically is measured in a sample of 147 small Slovene firms. Strategic approaches were used: Pearson Correlation, Structural Equation Modeling and Stepwise Regression. Although, the analysis of the Pearson Correlation coefficients showed that a firm's strategy of differentiation was not significant to IT usage in the firms, results of the Structural Equation Modeling have shown the adoption of this strategy to be statistical significant at a 5% level, as far as, the firm's Financial Performance is concerned. Furthermore, the stepwise regression approach has shown IT industry leadership and also IT's role in a firm to be the strongest predictors in the strategic usage of IT. This means that whenever firms viewed themselves as industry leaders in IT, they tend to utilize IT strategically and as well the widespread of IT usage in a firm had some effect on IT's strategic utilization. It was also found that IT is particularly well utilized in firms emphasizing innovation and, to a lesser degree, an efficiency strategy. Firms pursuing a low-cost strategy were the least likely to utilize IT strategically.
