Trauma and Forgiveness
註釋Balancing the two concepts of forgiveness and justice is a difficult and puzzling task for all humans. Two nations which took on that responsibility were South Africa and East Timor. In this booklet, a reflection on forgiveness, justice and national healing, the author discusses the path these two nations took: setting up commissions to establish facts and, where possible, seek reconciliation. He documents some ways in which these processes succeeded and some in which they failed, and in doing so invites us to reflect on our own capacity to seek justice, to face the truth and to forgive. (Adapted from Foreword).
