註釋Geraldine Moodie was the grand-daughter of the well-known writer Susanna Moodie and the grand-niece of Catherine Parr Traill. In 1885 her husband received a commission from the North West Mounted Police and the Moodies moved west, settling in various posts in western Canada and the Hudson's Bay district. Geraldine Moodie was an accomplished photographer who witnessed and documented the final days of Native culture on the prairies, the passing of the open range ranching frontier, the turn-of-the-century Inuit culture of the eastern Arctic, and prairie and Arctic plant life. This book tells the story of Geraldine Moodie's life and presents many of her photographs found during the author's 17-year search in museums and archives across Canada, the United States, and Great Britain.
