註釋John Gulley was born 4 March 1788 in Duplin Co., North Carolina. He was the youngest son of William Gulley and Bethany Hinnant. John married Nancy Bizzell 13 February 1809. They lived on a family plantation in Duplin Co., North Carolina and were the parents of fourteen children. Descendants lived in North Carolina, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas and elsewhere.
