Geschichte der Juden in Olfen
註釋Surveys the history of Jews in Olfen from the 16th century to World War II. Mentions tensions between Christians and Jews during the Prussian period in 1816-47, e.g. in 1847 leaders of the Jewish community sent a complaint to the mayor concerning the obstruction of an alley leading to the synagogue. Pp. 209-236 discuss the Holocaust, during which the members of nine Jewish families from Olfen were murdered. Pp. 228-237 focus on the fate of members of the Simons family, who lived in Münster from 1930. They had to move to a "Jewish house" after the "Kristallnacht" pogrom and were dispossessed of their property. They were deported in 1943 to Theresienstadt and in 1944 to Auschwitz, where most of them perished; Ernst Simons died in 1945 in Dachau after a death march.
