註釋
Emergent states play an integral role in team research as they offer an explanation as to what holds team together and makes certain teams outperform others. Since its introduction by Marks, Mathieu and Zaccaro in 2001, literature on emergent states has expanded exponentially with three fifth of all articles being published between 2014-2018. However, parallel to this development, a lack of construct clarity and missing attempts to structure the field with collective emergent state variables have been identified as research gaps in the field. This thesis addresses the need of a composite emergent state variable that allows for a better understanding of emergent states and their impact on team performance. The construct "We Consciousness" (WEC) was introduced by Sollberger (2017) and advanced by Scheidegger (2017) and both authors found empirical support for its existence and relation to team performance. Based on these findings, this research redevelops We Consciousness following an academically sound scale development procedure. Including two systematic literature reviews on both WEC related constructs and emergent state literature, We Consciousness is conceptually defined as "the affective and cognitive alignment of all members on a team that fosters team functioning and team performance". A questionnaire is developed that allows to measure the WEC score of teams and the construct is specified as an aggregate multidimensional construct consisting of the eight sub-dimensions team cohesion, team efficacy, team potency, team psychological empowerment, team trust, shared mental model, team psychological safety, and transactive memory system
