The Linear Pyrolysis of Several Thermoplastics During Combustion
註釋The linear pyrolysis of seven polymeric materials and a composite propellant was studied experimentally using planar diffusion flames established just above the pyrolyzing surfaces. The flames, fed by the pyrolysis products and an impinging oxygen jet, drove continuing pyrolysis by heat feedback to the pyrolyzing surfaces. The similarity of these measured pyrolysis characteristics for diverse polymers suggests that chemical differences are secondarily important in this pyrolysis, for example, in terms of the influences of surface attack by oxygen. A thermal model of the process, despite oversimplifying assumptions and uncertain polymer properties, predicts a realistic rate exponent, beta (0.50), and approximate regression rates. (Author).
