註釋
Fort Lee, New Jersey, in 1900, was the movie capital of the world. Even before the building of the George Washington Bridge over 30 years later the town was a center of activity. The Abbott and Kerwien families were established there in the 1800's and were noted for their political and business contributions. Three generations of Kerwiens were mayors of Fort Lee. This book is the story on Arthur Eugene Kerwien who grew up in the early years of Fort Lee and his life after leaving that area. The book takes you through the life of one family who had their roots in the early days of Fort Lee and eventually leads you to the next generation of Kerwiens and their wandering son Peter Abbott Kerwien. The book offers an excellent glimpse of family life in the early part of the century and the strong family values which carried through to following generations. Early photos and documents are also included. The main character Arthur Eugene Kerwien survived scarlet fever which took a toll on so many soldiers in World War I and found an interest in ham radio which let to a 45-year career with the Bell Telephone Laboratories. An interview format is used to tell these two interesting stories. Editorial notes bring a unique perspective as additional information is supplied by the author.
