註釋
Methods for reducing the corrosion of reinforcing steel in concrete in the presence of deicing salts are evaluated and developed. An electrochemical laboratory study was conducted since it was conjectured that corrosion resulted from the interactions between different galvanic cells, and investigations were made of corrosion inhibitors to be added to deicing salts, metallic and nonmetallic coatings for the reinforcement and cathodic methods of protection. Four metallic coatings were studied - copper, nickel, zinc, and lead.
