The former has two chapters dealing with Vegetables: An Overview and Types of Vegetable Gardens. The latter is spread over six sections covering production technology of 33 crops. Each crop is dealt under choice of cultivars, climate and soil requirements, sowing time, seed rate, nursery practices, preparation of field, transplanting, spacing, nutrient management, water and weed management, use of chemicals and growth regulators, other intercultural practices, crop protection, physiological disorders, harvesting, yield, post-harvest handling, and marketing. Simple and lucid language has been used for easy understanding of the beginners. Questions are set at the end of each chapter to assess the understanding of the students. Though the book is primarily written for under-graduate students of horticulture, the counterparts of agriculture will also be benefitted. It may serve as a help book for post-graduate students and extension officials.
