State of Georgia, by His Excellency George R. Gilmer, Governor and Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of this State, and of the Militia Thereof
註釋Land grant, signed by Georgia governor George R. Gilmer [in Milledgeville] on Dec. 21, 1837, awarding 160 acres of Creek Lands in Cherokee County, formerly occupied by the Cherokee Tribe, to James Griggs, "a soldier in the late war." The grant for Lot 270.10, based on Georgia Legislative acts of 1830 and 1831, carries signatures of Gilmer, B.T. Bethune, and McFarland. With the grant is a description of the tract, and a plat survey, signed by Jesse Cox, Surveyor General, both documents threaded together with faded red ribbon attached to a pendant 1799 State of Georgia seal.
