註釋
Since the early nineties Poland's accession to the European Union and integration with EU economy has been a priority and one of strategic goals of the government's foreign policy. It was an enormous challenge and meeting it required fulfillment of numerous membership criteria, mainly in the field of adjusting Polish legislation. Today, after EU enlargement, Poland being a full-fledged member of it is expected to take the next steps like joining Monetary Union and adopting Single Currency. Obviously this means that Poland must fulfill the convergence criteria set out in the Maastricht Treaty, one of which is adequate inflation rate. The article presents an subjective overview of problems in measuring inflation in a transition economy.
