The Work Paradigm
註釋This text debates the future of work, investigating how the conceptual and practical aspects of work combine to form a work paradigm. It is argued that economic stability depends upon a satisfactory equilibrium between the way work is organized in practice, and the attribution of meaning and purpose to that work. Beginning with an analysis of the criteria applied in defining work, and of the basic principles which underlie human productive activity, the book analyzes the internal dynamics which govern the formation of the work paradigm. It is argued that the current concept of work has become increasingly outdated in the face of rapid technological change, and increases in job insecurity, thus creating a critical disequilibrium within the work paradigm. The book concludes that the satisfactory emergence of a new equilibrium will require a thorough reassessment of what we mean by work.
