Jordans Westward from Ireland
註釋The Jordan family is said to descend from the Norman family of d'Exeter which held extensive land holdings in Connaught after the Norman invasion of 1172. This family adopted the Gaelic surname of Mac Siurtain which eventually was anglocized into Jordan. William Jordan (1782-1870) was born in Castlebar, Ireland and married Lavinia Acton (1788-1883) in 1803. They were the parents of seven children. In the early 1840s they emigrated with their children to Ontario, Canada. There are over 1700 descendants in Canada, United States, and other parts of the world.
