註釋
In today's globalized society, education is perhaps the most important tool we have to offer our future generations. Education and knowledge are vital to producing informed, considerate and responsible citizens of society. Yet, education takes many different shapes and forms across individual continents. Throughout most of the United States of America a comprehensive school structure is the dominant school form, however, contrastingly, in Germany, a tripartite school system has long prevailed. With current overwhelming immigration rates and global mobility on the rise, whether politically or personally driven, educators must be prepared to serve all demographics of students and make their knowledge and instruction easily accessible to all learners. Through qualitative methods including interviews, narratives and scientific analysis, this study proposes to gain an understanding of the tiered public German school system through the lenses of six professionally trained educators in the field. This is not only important in building bridges between different cultures and their practices, but also gaining an understanding of how students learn. This study will investigate how students in Germany navigate the complex educational system, and the opinions and feelings of those responsible for guiding and educating this diverse population. Through this sharing of pedagogy, educators can consciously begin to translate successful and unique educational practices of other cultures into their own work with students in the classroom. Like language, this could eventually lead to a streamlining of educational ideals that become recognizable through all international education models fostering the importance and universality of education and best serving today's globalized youth.
