The Influence of Residual Stresses on Fatigue
註釋A key aim of this work has been to provide an accurate estimation of component fatigue life under conditions of residual stress. An essential prerequisite for achieving such a goal is the ability to calculate the stress intensity factor for cracks under these conditions. Despite being a simple fracture mechanics problem, residual stresses exhibit several features which together mean that care must be taken during analysis. Established techniques have been successfully adapted to provide accurate stress intensity factors for a variety of problems of this type.
