Joseph von Hoffbauer was a lawyer in Graz and a subscriber for the biography of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) by Georg Nikolaus von Nissen (1761-1826), the 2nd husband of Constanze Mozart. The Nissen biography was overseen by Constanze and was published posthumously in 1828. In the letter, Constanze is upset about having to reduce the price of the biography.
