At the time of the murder, several tenants lived on the second floor: a waitress with a sordid past, a former collector for organized crime, a live-in repairman and an elderly lady. All shared one thing in common -- a peculiar attraction to the apartment at the end of the hall, although no one seemed to know the identity of its inhabitant.
