註釋John Pickney Emory was born in 1866 in Greenville County, South Carolina. His parents were J. Baez Emory and Minerva Harrison Moss. He married Harriet Kessie Buckner (1866-1944), daughter of Squire Jefferson Buckner (1828-1881) and Martha Selina Drake, in 1887. They had nine children.
