註釋
Does your child struggle with anxiety? Consistent worrying can stop kids from enjoying friends, hobbies, school, sports, or their everyday lives. Additionally, with life changing triggers such as the pandemic, parental job insecurity, the scary/confusing news, and the pressures of social media, your child's anxiety can become excessive. Most books have a "conflict", this book does not. There are no heavy triggers, or messages that will exacerbate an already anxious child, just a sweet child enjoying her everyday life with her friends and family. This book is not a treatment for anxiety.
About the book: for ages 10 to 12
This first installment in a new series introduces Shannon Comet (pronounced Coe-may), a brand new seventh-grader who has had enough of change. With the pandemic, and grownups on the news acting like lunatics, her mom bought her a

journal to help her "process & unpack" her feelings. She resisted the whole idea at first, of course, but now journaling has become her favorite pastime, and an integral part of the book. The book begins on October 1st, with her journal entry. Halloween is right around the corner and her new "Autumn" journal is filling up quickly with fun Halloween mysteries, surprises, recipes, parties, and new experiences. She loves writing in her journal because she can look back over her old journal pages and remember the good times and see how far she's grown.
Shannon & her mom live on the Northside of Chicago. Her mom owns and operates a small, neighborhood movie theater, and they live upstairs in the old attic that has been converted and renovated into a very nice apartment. Shannon's parents are divorced, but she is completely loved and equally parented. Her dad lives in a high rise apartment building downtown, and she spends time with him frequently. She has two best friends, Zoe and Sioux, and she makes a few more friends along the way. Even though she doesn't like change, she realizes she's more resilient than she believed, and that change is not always so scary.
This novel has no heavy messages to add to pandemic anxieties.
Book Two: coming in November.
