Text evidently copied from a work by Hinrichs on the elements, followed by student notes on Hinrichs' lecture course on organic chemistry in the spring term of 1868. Tipped in are printed prospectuses for his books Atomechanics (under its French title, Programme de l'atomécanique, ou, La chimie, une mécanique des panatomes, 1867) and Synopsis of new memoirs on atomechanics (1868). A diagram of Hinrichs' classifications of the elements is mounted on the front pastedown.
