Saratoga Classic Short Stories
註釋A STRANGER IN THE HOUSE - Sometimes the person to be feared the most is the one you think you know the best. Who shares your morning coffee? AMY AT 37 - When a woman has been married most of her adult life, divorce can leave her vulnerable to the wrong kind of man...one who brings her roses...and plays romantic songs for her at midnight... MOVING PLATFORMS - Sara wants so little out of life...and so little is what she gets. Despite a successful husband and wonderful son, something is missing, she knows it, her husband knows it. What Sara leans is that a haven must never be confused with a destination. KENNY - Ed Jamison is not big on conversation, relationships, kids, or being sober for extended periods of time-which makes life pretty tough when a co-worker asks Ed to give him a lift from Kansas City to Oklahoma, to pick up his eight-year-old son-and then disappears. Caught in the middle of Kenny's conniving ex-hooker mom and a criminal system that could put Ed away for life on child stealing charges, this Christmas tale is a roller coaster of emotion that leaves the reader believing all things may be possible after all. BARROW, BARROW & JONES - Set in 1789, attorney Alexander Barrow longs for an aspiring inventor to enter his office with a unique idea. No such luck. One idiot wants to patent a shard of steel, an absurd pin of some sort, while another envisions chewing on a wad of something rubber-like to relax the nerves, and on it goes. One unusable notion after another. The moral of this tale is to hold on to your dream, to pursue it, protect it, believe in it. If you let it go, it will one day become someone else's. BONUS FEATURE NOVELLA: MURDER IN MAGENTA Artist Louis Quinlan's death doesn't make sense. If it really was a robbery gone wrong, why is his fiance, a popular local radio personality, being stalked? Why is someone determined to kill her best friend? And who is the man with the hooded eyes and frightening stare? Murder in Magenta is a tale well calculated to keep you in Suspense."
