Obesity and Its Related Diseases in China
註釋Along with socioeconomic development, the traditional lifestyle of the Chinese people is changing rapidly and becoming more Westernized. This is especially the case in urban areas. At the same time, prevalence of obesity and diabetes is increasing at an alarming rate. It is interesting to note that overweight and obesity issues were rare in China as recently as 1982. This monograph describes a series of studies examining the prevalence and characteristics of obesity and its related metabolic diseases in China, where urbanization and socioeconomic development are occurring at a dramatic pace. It is important to understand health implications of these changes and identify efficient markers to estimate these health consequences. This will be a valuable addition to collections in Health and Human Sciences as well as Asian Studies. Those studying urban studies will also find this a useful resource.
