註釋Letters, 1945-1946, discuss the fates of missionary friends and colleagues during World War II during the Japanese Occupation, most of whom had been interned in Japanese prison camps in the Philippines; official reports of the Board of Foreign Missions of the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America; and letters from Miss Ruth Swanson reporting her release from the Los Banos [Los Ban̤os] internment camp located 45 miles southeast of Manila, with comments on local conditions in the Philippines at the time of liberation by United States troops. Swanson is known to have lived in the Philippines since at least 1919 [she may possibly the Miss Ruth Swanson who completed her degree from Millikin University (Decatur, Illinois), Class of 1913].
