Sustainable Futures : Lessons from the Nordic Countries : Report of the Yukon Government Economic Mission to the Nordic Countries
註釋In June of 1989 the Yukon Government sponsored an economic mission to the three Noridc countries of Sweden, Finland and Norway. The purpose of the mission was to gather ideas for the diversification of the yukon's economy. The northern communities in the Noridc countries have faced many of the same problems for economic development that the Yukon faces. By European standards they are small, remote communities with cold climates. Two of the communities we visited began as company mining towns, and a third was almost completely destroyed in the Second World War. Over the last 50 years, and mostly in the last 10 years, these communities have been successful in diversifying and increasing local control of their economies. Many of their circumstances are different from the Yukon's, but they are still the closest example available to us for what our future could look like.
