註釋Publisher abstract: This extract from Thomas Moule's 'The English Counties Delineated' was published in a limited numbered edition of which this is no. 1 to Celebrate the Reinstatement of Rutland as a County, 1st April 1997. In 1974, after 800 years as a self-governing County, Rutland was amalgamated with the County of Leicestershire under the reorganisation of Local Government. However, as District of Rutland Water when the Gwash Valley was flooded in the 1970s, the name was reserved in Rutland and lived on. On 1st April 1997, Rutland regained its independence and its county status.
