註釋Relates to information provided by Pál Szalai in an interview of him conducted by Mária Ember [published in "Múlt és Jövő" 4 (Apr 1990) and in her book "Ránk akarták kenni" (1992)]. Szalai, a former member of the Arrow Cross, described how he and other Hungarian officers (Ferenc Perjési and Károly Szabó, both of them deserters) helped Raoul Wallenberg in his efforts to save Jews in the final stage of the war in Hungary. Szekeres describes the events, and presents many documents which add to the account of Szalai's rescue actions.
