註釋In this Radio 3 talk the author argues that what Blunt and Philby did was not simply to pass bits of information to their Soviet controllers, but to assist in the actual formulation of British policy on a number of issues in which the Russians had interests of their own, interests which were not compatible with those of the West. That Stalin's strategy succeeded throughout central and Eastern Europe was in large part brought about by Blunt and Philby.
