註釋Dutch draftsman and painter Marcel van Eeden is known for his characteristic work reminiscent of film noir, wherein the use of black and white contrast is prominent. Employing charcoal and coloured pencils, as well as watercolour paint, his stylised and tightly cropped images visualise dramatic scenes. Like a sprawling graphic novel, this visual compendium of his most recent series of drawings concocts compelling fictions based on historical facts, interweaving several chronologies and narratives. Subjected to unforeseen experiences, the protagonists' lives begin to converge as their stories gradually expand across this ingenious labyrinth of gripping tales and thrilling twists. Exhibition: Gemeentemuseum Den Haag, Netherlands (08.11.2013-02.03.2014).
