Case Studies in Therapeutic Nutrition
註釋Abstract: A text is designed for nurses who need to update their knowledge of the principles and applications of therapeutic nutrition. Two disciplines (nursing and nutrition) are integrated so that the importance of diet in pathophysiological states can be demonstrated. Diets with protein, fat, and carbohydrate modifications are described. Each section presents case studies in which the main nutrient (e.g., protein) is manipulated to comply with the diet prescription (e.g., renal and hepatic disease). The diet prescription, drug therapies, laboratory values, and clinical symptoms of various diseases are compared. Questions are provided at the end of each section to test for comprehension of materials and answers are given. Additional references for further study are supplied. (kbc).
