Medical Allusions in Freemasonry
註釋Medicine has had no direct influence on Freemasonry and Freemasonry has been of no direct consequence to the evolution of the science and practice of medicine. The nuance here is "direct". Throughout history, Freemasonry and its allusions to the healing arts interconnect indirectly on several occasions from the recurrent symbolism of the snake in different cultures at the dawn of civilization, in Antiquity's understanding of man's physical universe, during the crusades and in the practice of alchemy during the Age of Renaissance and extend into modern day medical ethics. Masonic education and the concept of "further light" also have striking similarities to medical education and a commitment to life-long learning.
