Field notes Vol. 244 documents Kenneth Kent Mackenzie's botanical collecting in New Jersey from 1910-1916, and collections of Carex from the United States and Canada made by other collectors and given to Mackenzie. Pages 1-86 of the book are comprised of a list of New Jersey specimens collected by MacKenzie, numbered 4510-7553, dated May 1, 1910-November 12, 1916. Entries include plant name, collection location, and collection date. This specimen list is continued in Field notes Vol. 4. Following are assorted lists of Carex specimens, collected in locations throughout the United States and Canada by various collectors and given to Mackenzie. Most of these specimens are dated, with collection dates ranging from the 1860's to 1916.
