註釋
Public accounting in America is only one hundred years old, but it would be difficult to imagine modern business functioning without the young profession. Certified public accountants perform a vital function as internal or external advisors to businesses both large and small. CPAs assist in all areas of operations and management as well as in financial matters.
The Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, with more than eighteen thousand members, is the third largest statewide organization of accountants in the nation. Since 1915 it has molded professional attitudes, skills, and standards for its members. Accountancy in Texas is a composite of regulation and volunteerism. The Texas State Board of Public Accountancy, TSCPA, and the Society’s chapters have long cooperated to serve the public interest and to strengthen the accounting profession. These groups work together to enforce ethical behavior, inform the public, and provide a forum for the exchange of information. In addition, the Society supports the formal study of accounting at Texas colleges and universities to encourage potential CPAs. TSCPA also pursues an aggressive program of continuing professional education to keep current CPAs up-to-date with changing business environments. Emerging issues frequently offer the Society opportunities to explore new directions in this rapidly growing field.
This book revises and updates the original 1962 edition of the Society’s history. It tells the story of the CPAs who have left their personal imprints on this dynamic profession in Texas and the nation.
