The Karanikolicka River Basin i located in the Šara Mountain, Macedonia. It developed in the highlands, which was covered by glaciers. The author has surveyed the following lakes: Veliki Djol, Mali Djol, Karanikolica, Šeremet and Šilidje. The data are given about the size of the lakes, water temperature, water maintenance, evolution stadium, the need for protection and tourist importance of the lakes.  The origin of the basin is analysed and a review of geological structure of the environment, as well as its climatic conditions.
