註釋Born in the heart of New Orleans, the Neville Brothers grew up surrounded by the blended rhythms of the city -- jazz, blues, gospel and early R&B. As "the first family of New Orleans music", they've achieved smashing critical and popular successes, both as solo performers and collectively. Now, in The Brothers, each brother alternates telling their stories: their upbringing in a musically talented, hard-working extended family; their first encounters with racism; their growing involvement in crime and drugs; and their early taste of musical success in their separate careers.

The Nevilles' story is the story of New Orleans music -- the jazz funerals, Mardi Gras Indian bands like the Wild Tchoupitoulas, and collaborations with Professor Longhair, Dr. John, Allen Toussaint and other New Orleans giants. Today, the brothers' rhythm-charged funk sound has become synonymous with the city itself, but it was only in the mid-70s that all four brothers started performing together, spurred on by their mother's death. Despite the vagaries of their personal lives and professional careers, the brothers' strength resides in their close bonds with each other.
