註釋Charles Hoare of Gloucester, England, son of Charles and Margery Hoare of Gloucester, was an alderman in the city 1632-1638 and sheriff in 1634. He and his wife, Joanna Hinksman, were the parents of at least six children. He died at Gloucester in 1638. His widow, Joanna Hoare, and five of her surviving children, immigrated to New England within two years of his death. Joanna Hoare died at Braintree, Massachusetts, in 1651. Descendants in the first few generations in America, lived in Massachusetts, New York, and elsewhere. The surname is spelled Hoar and Hoare.
