註釋
Scamozzi was one of Northern Italy's leading architects during the final decades of the 16C and 17C. His strictly organized approach to the principles of architecture resulted in his own personal interpretation of ancient classical architecture and his treatise 'L'Idea della Architettura', which eventually became an influential handbook for classical architecture throughout Europe. This English translation of the treatise's Book III, 'Villas and Country Estates', is beautifully printed and illustrated by photographs and sketches of Scamozzi's own buildings. The introductory essay places Scamozzi, his buildings and his book in historical context.
