For any pair ([italic]A, [italic]B) of [italic]C*-algebras equipped with continuous actions of a locally compact group [italic]G, denote by [italic]KK[italic exponent]G [over] [subscript]* ([italic]A, [italic]B) the equivariant [italic]KK-groups of Kasparov. These groups play a fundamental role in the recent development of the so-called "noncommutative topology", and it is important to compute them in many concrete situations. The present monograph provides effective methods for computing these Kasparov groups when [italic]G is a compact Lie group with torsion-free fundamental group.
