When 11-year-old John Hallworth is awakened by a strange noise and finds an old pair of spectacles at the end of his garden, he cannot possibly imagine the adventure that he is about to have. Casper the cat turns into Fearless the goblin and the two head off on a mystery journey. When initial friendship turns to deceit, John begins to realise that Fearless is using him for his own greed to find him gold at the rainbow. Unable to remove the magic spectacles which gives Fearless power over him, John must do as he is instructed. Befriended by Quando, a rainbow worker, will the two be able to work out a plan to defeat Fearless and his powers, ensure John a safe return home and allow good to overcome evil?
