Mineral Exploration & Fracture Trends in Utah & Nevada, by ERTS-1 Imagery
註釋Major structural trends of Utah and Nevada have been mapped on the 1:1,000,000 scale. The trends are being compared to mapped faults and structures; blocks with offset patterns, unrelated to present geomorphology, suggest crustal fragments that have moved along now dormant fault systems. Those fracture trends in bedrock and Qa1 that exhibit mineralization are being assayed for mercury with the hope of discovering "blind" mineralized zones that are not exposed on the surface. False color transparencies are being employed in the investigation of the Colorado Plateau. Color, by enhancing variations in vegetation type and density, facilitates the identification of drainage patterns, seepage, lineaments, lithographic units and plateaus and buttes. Areas are being investigated further by field studies and geochemical methods.
