Strategies for Controlling Adolescent Drug Use
註釋As part of an effort to identify the most promising ways in which private initiatives and public policy might reduce the number of adolescents who use drugs, this study presents a broad review of the scientific literature on the nature of drug use and the effectiveness of drug law enforcement, treatment, and prevention programs. It evaluates the prospects for each of the major methods of controlling drug use and suggests an agenda of possible actions. In addition, it identifies the crucial information needed for better articulation of future national efforts to combat drug use. The document discusses availability and consumption of drugs, drug law enforcement, treatment of adolescent drug abusers, prevention of drug use, characteristics of adolescent drug use, effectiveness of drug control strategies, and future directions for programs to reduce drug use. A 28-page bibliography is included. (ABL)
